Alumni Weekend Events at Village Square Booksellers

Busy weekend. Bellows Falls Union High School graduation tonight at 6pm at BFUHS. Tomorrow we have 3rd Friday Art Walk. I just found out that Mary Tolaro Noyes will be stopping by since she is town for a reunion party. "Bologna Reflections" is the name of her book. The Art Walk is from 5-8, though the Bellows Falls Farmer's Market is from 4-7pm. (Alumni classes have dinners scheduled)

Saturday we have American Girl Club from 2-4pm. (Alumni has a dance at the Waypoint Center & the American Legion)

Sunday is the day of the Bellows Falls Alumni Parade, running from 12-til around 2 pm. Garry Harrington, BF native class of '78, will be in the store to sign his book "Greetings from Gringotenango".

A little investigation turns up the delicious fact that Vermont goes way beyond cheese and syrup, and has, in fact, been christened “the coolest food state in the union” by Saveur magazine. March by Geraldine Brooks (Viking) From Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women," Brooks has taken the character of the absent father, March, and has added adult resonance to portray the moral complexity of war and a marriage tested by the demands of extreme idealism.(Pb $14)
Fiction winner, March, was the number-one March 2005 Book Sense Pick in hardcover and a February 2006 Notable in paperback. In her nomination of the title for the 2005 Picks, Sandi Torkildson of A Room of One's Own Feminist Bookstore in Madison, Wisconsin, said, "The war experiences of the March girls' absent father in Alcott's Little Women form the storyline of this powerful historical novel set during the Civil War.
